Well it is 2011. Jonathan and I were home in December and while we were visiting with my parents. My father proposed that he and I should see who can lose 20 lbs the fastest. That is to say the fastest and in the healthiest way. I am starting this blog to hopefully hold me accountable. I will post my progress here. My husband is a huge support to me in this, but he is a "big ol' softy" and spoils me to no end. He doesn't force me to do anything I don't "feel like" doing. He encourages me, but he does not force me. I appreciate this very much about him as I do much better under encouragement rather than force. However, putting this journey "out there" for others to read may provide just a tad more motivation as I would hate to disappoint the masses. I don't know that anyone will read this, but I can pretend that people will. So, here is what I am starting with: I am 5'10'' and I currently weigh 183 lbs. I would love to lose 20 lbs in 2-3 months. I do not, however, wish to stop there. My goal weight is 149 lbs. I was at this weight at the end of the summer of 2005. I felt very good and my doctor was very happy. So there you have it folks. I am not going to do this quickly. I am going to take my time, pace myself, do it the "healthy way." By the time we move home in June I would love to have reached my goal. If I have not, I will not give up and I will not be discouraged. I give in to discouragement very easily. I believe that this stems from my lack of self confidence. I believe that if I can prove to myself that I can do this, in turn I will improve in many aspects of my life.
I am open to suggestions, bits of encouragement, etc.
congratulations sara :-) i think putting it out there like this can be a very good motivator. kind of want to jump on the wagon w u and dad but not sure from when i want to commit (haha). no time like the present right. actually have a simular bet (i believe w shook on it) w one of your aunts. ours was 10kg buy the time beth (hart) returns to norway which we as of yet do not know when is but she is back in denmark in march so soon thereafter better be norway. as a veteran of "dieting" i'm going to throw some things your way sara. first off just so you know it, as far as weight, height, build goes...life is not fair. you are a combination of your parents' gens. a little from mommy and a little from daddy = sara. nothing wrong with that because they made an awesome young lady and you know how i feel about you. however i have noticed on recent pictures how your weight struggle has begun. this saddens me whilst reminiscing my 30 yrs of weight fight. it also gives me a feeling a joy. with this blog you acknowledge your wish for a change in body. sara it is so easy. especially at your age. and before children come. you and your husband can put down a healthy foundation right now for the rest of your lives. i am going to assume you know the basic, what you put in your body is the "gas" you're giving it to run on. how much you do with your body determens how much "gas" you use up. the "gas" you donot use goes into various storage areas around your body. some places more advantages than others. the part that is unfair is; how much you have to move to burn yr fuel and how much yr neibor/husband/sister/father/aunt has to move to burn theres is also dertermind by those gens and is varying. i am not a fan of the word "diet" per se. what we eat daily is our diet. if we are gaining weight then we need to adjust our intake and increase our output. our daily diet needs to change. and this next part is essential for this to be easy. our daily intake needs to change yes. not just for a short period of time. not just until those favorite pants fit again. our daily intake needs to change for the rest of our lives. you have to establish a healthy well balanced diet now. make yr rutine a healthy one, then it will not matter when you "koser deg" from time to time. just as important as the food part is the activity part. you need to start a foundation now w something you want to carry on w thoughout life. variation is important as so not to grow sick of what you are doing. jogging is not the only alternativ. tennis really burns fuel and always made me happy playing. nothing better than dancing. any kind. can do it w hubby. get a bigger dog and take longer walks (haha). ideas are limitless. if you guys can make these adjustments you will feel better not only this summer but all the summers of your life and you will be giving yr children a natural introduction into a healthy life. the choice is ours to make. good luck to you sara belle.
ReplyDeleteI didn't use to love my blog until I started adding my scrapbooking to my blog! You'll be surprised how many followers, you'll get! I'm still trying to lose weight. My goal is about 140, I have a ways to go yet! I've got a friend here in New Bern that is losing weight with me, so I have a little support! I hope you lose the weight you want to lose! I'll offer encouragement and support as well! :)

I dont know how much you want me to share here but I do feel some what responsible for some of your eating habits. I mean it giving you M&M's for going peepee on the potty probably wasnt the best thing to do! We had fun though! I got one too you know! And dark chocolate M&M's are my favorite American candy! And there is more but maybe we should talk, not like we havent already but I dont know if you want me to share here!! I hope the best for you always! I am so glad you enjoyed your walk on the treadmill! Do not be discouraged in times of quietness
ReplyDeleteOur God is communicating with your heart
He is calming your storms and
Removing the things that life has placed there
Rest in His arms and listen to his quiet call
Seek Him in this quiet hour
And know that he is still there
Elsker deg!
